Switzer's historic mill village housing keeps us busy with furnace work in older frame homes, crawlspace moisture management along the creek, and the careful duct and equipment upgrades that century houses need. We also handle the heat pumps and mini-splits that younger families moving into the village's charm have added.
Creek-valley homes like Switzer's live with moisture the way ridgetop homes live with wind. Every service call here includes a look at the crawlspace — standing water, duct condition, equipment corrosion — because catching those issues early is the difference between a $200 fix and a flooded-air-handler replacement. We'd rather tell you on a Tuesday in April than meet you at 2 AM in January.
We also love the historic character here. Where owners want to preserve original details, we design around them — mini-splits for rooms ducts can't reach, high-velocity options where central air is wanted without gutting walls, and equipment placement that respects the village's look.
One of the old village homes off the covered-bridge road had a furnace short-cycling every winter morning. The culprit wasn't the furnace — it was a collapsed flex run in the crawlspace choking the return. We rebuilt the return path, sealed the supply runs, and that 1990s furnace has purred through three winters since. The homeowners avoided a replacement they didn't need.
Climate & Risk Awareness in Switzer
Four-season Inner Bluegrass climate: humid 80s-degree summers, hard freezes in January, Kentucky River flooding, ice storms, and tornado exposure.
We plan every Switzer installation around Kentucky's realities: river and creek flood zones, ice storms, humid summers, and radon levels that deserve a conversation.

Why Switzer Residents Choose HVAC Frankfort KY
Switzer homeowners choose us because century-old mill-village houses reward patient diagnosis. We check the crawlspace on every visit — creek-valley moisture is this community's quiet equipment killer — and we design around original plaster and trim instead of gutting it.

"Our 2004 heat pump died in the first July heat wave. They had a tech out same day, gave us three options in writing with real numbers, and the new variable-speed system was running by Friday. The upstairs is cool for the first time since we bought the house."

Woodlake · Heat Pump Replacement · July 2025
"Furnace quit at 11 PM on a 20-degree night with two kids in the house. A real person answered the phone, coached us through protecting the pipes, and had the ignitor replaced before midnight. Can't ask for more than that."
David R.
South Frankfort · Furnace Repair · January 2025
"I was terrified anyone putting AC in my 1880s rowhouse would destroy the plaster. Their crew threaded everything through existing chases — you honestly cannot find the system. The house stays cool and the historic board never had to hear about it."
Brenda T.

Switzer HVAC FAQs
Local answers for Switzer homeowners — no generic boilerplate, just what we hear at kitchen tables here.
They're different, not harder — original frame construction breathes, and loads depend on the home's updates. We calculate loads from the actual house and often solve 'hard to heat' complaints with airflow and duct fixes before equipment.
First, measure — we check humidity and drainage on every Switzer visit. The lasting fix is usually sealing plus dehumidification or encapsulation; we'll show you photos and options priced in stages.
Very likely. Mini-splits and high-velocity systems bring cooling into historic homes with minimal wall impact — we've done both throughout the village.
